Shell We is a play on the English phrase "Shall we," evoking a sense of wonder about the unknown and the joy of sharing moments with others. The word "Shell" signifies an eggshell, highlighting the source of inspiration for the jewelry's design. While showcasing the user's taste and personality, Shell We also helps users become the focal point and center of conversation at social gatherings and parties.
[ MOTIVATION ]
The initial inspiration for this project was to break the relatively stagnant state of contemporary jewelry design. I believe that jewelry is not just a tool for showcasing one's identity, aesthetics, and taste to the outside world; it is also a medium that creates and fosters unique relationships between people. In my view, jewelry is alive, and its design concepts should originate from living elements in nature. Based on this philosophy, I endeavored to create a piece of jewelry that is dynamic, interactive, and full of playful engagement.
[ SOLUTION ]
This jewelry collection consists of two pieces: a necklace and a ring. When wearing the necklace, users can freely assemble the egg shell and yolk components using clasps. The ring is divided into three parts from bottom to top: a 925 silver band, two matte silver egg shell pieces, and a gold yolk component. These three parts are connected using clasps and magnets, allowing users to easily change the ring's appearance and spark interesting conversations in social settings.
The jewelry container mimics the shape of a classic egg carton, with a glass texture that enhances the shine of the gold and silver materials. This design adds a playful atmosphere to the display and storage of the jewelry.
